Orangish primates, found only in Sumatra and Borneo, are highly intelligent and are close relatives of humans. When exposed to humans they like to imitate what they see. Depicted here is the orangutan imagining life as a human with the typical family portraits, a vegetarian meal and a mouse trap for the occasional meat. Although, he has made a cozy home it will not last long. For he will find that he misses the trees of the tropical rain forest where he spent 90 percent of his time. The Malay word orangutan means “person of the forest.”
