Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Ching Ming (Festival of Pure Brightness) have some similarities. Ching Ming is held in the month of April and Dia de Los Muertos is held in November. Another similarity of Dia de Los Muertos and Ching Ming is the placing of altars in the home. Although, the Chinese keep an altar year round for the daily honoring of the family line. On a Dia de Los Muertos altar one will find the deceased’s favorite items. Both cultures visit the deceased grave site, clean and prepare for a visit.
