A Place of Her Own Exhibit at SOMArts 2015
Creating A Place of My Own began with a discarded doll house I found on 49th Street in Oakland. It was a drizzly night walking home from drinks and dinner with my spouse and daughter. We came upon a skeletal frame of a doll house left on the sidewalk. It was painted in bright, primary colors. It felt dirty, wet, and moldy. I took it home and it sat in my garage for several years.
